With the pandemic wrecking havoc on the auto industry and sales, dealers are getting desperate, and pricing on some vehicles shows. Like this 5 Series. I personally think the current gen G30 5 Serious is one of the best ones, way better than the problematic F10.
Its 2017 530i with 47,493 miles for $24,884. 1 owner, no accidents and its for sale at an actual BMW dealer. The original price on it was $29,981 back at the end of January. Meaning that this vehicle has dropped $5k in price in just 3 months. Its a nice car, and I haven’t ever heard of or read about any problems with this gen of 5 Series.
What do guys think, NP or CP?

Dealer: I know what I have!
Jalops: A car you can’t sell after three months?

And this is key for those of us that are able to buy a car right now if we can. We can use whats happening against them. They have inventory sitting. No excuse why deals cant be made.

Thought about that too. Possible CP. But this gen, along with that turbo 4 seem to be reliable so far. Seem to be.

Pretty decent price.
What’s wrong with the F10? Mine’s been one of the most reliable cars I’ve ever had, as long as you don’t mind a few oil leaks.

You got lucky then. The F10 has a long list of problems no matter the engine. The oil leaks you mentioned,
oil burning,
535i throttle lags/tip in
N63 V8 turbo issues
Dynamic drive malfunctions
pulling to the right issues
Battery power loss issues
The list goes on and on. From my research in the past, it looks like most of the problems are concentrated in the first 2 model years of the F10 (‘11 &’12) with people saying that ify ou are going to get one only go with 2013 and newer.

Fair enough. I have a ‘11 535xi and I can understand why some, um, “intricacies” of the car are annoying to the typical BMW driver. I historically owned Subarus, so oil burning and an inability to remain aligned are part of my blood.
I’m excited to try a G30 now, though.

I mean if you love it and you can put up with it, then go for it. That’ s part of being an enthusiast ,But at the same time some problems can make you second guess if its worth it.
The G30 is good though. I had one for about a week 2 years ago and it was great. Great enough for me to consider buying one. That turbo 4 got excellent MPGs too. The only annoying things were the weird feeling steering (numb pretty much), the gimmicky gesture controls, and the stupid remote control like shifter.
